“We do not have the same flag, not the same skin color. We do not have the same language, the same culture, the same images. But each of us has the same color of blood … We all have a hand that we can reach out … and the opportunity to turn it into an opportunity.» (Singer Gregoire)
Saturday, May 30, 2015 International Peace March. This year’s theme was: Paths of exile, dreams of peace. “We wanted this march to be inhabited of a hot topic: the long cohorts of migrants fleeing their country, many of them do not arrive at the end of their dreams. Walking by contemplating faces, pictures, stories.”
They didn’t want to go for a walk, but to walk in solidarity with all those who are obliged to leave their home, their country. They were between 700 and 800, who went from Picauville to Sainte-Mère-Eglise by Beuzeville la Bastille and Chef-du-Pont.
In the ensuing ecumenical celebration a Catholic priest, an Orthodox priest and a representative of the unified Protestant church invited to pray for those who need to find a new home.
No party without food, laughter and songs, the day ended with a meal and relaxed-peaceful gathering in the covered market hall of Sainte-Mère-Église, accompanied by live music that invited to sing along.
